Finally arrived to Chicama after a long 25 hour trip
Some of the crew and the huge RV we drove in for 12 hours.
Waiting to leave in the airport hotel.

In Peru there are no laws about who owns the land, so if there is land that is being unused, people will start to build their mud houses on them.

As I looked at all of the agriculture around Peru, I noticed that they have a lot of similar plants and trees that we have in Hawaii. If you look close you can see taro.
The second we opened the door to take a pit stop, all of the locals surrounded us to see if we wanted to bye some fruits or drinks.
I would say that these roads in the middle of a dessert with no people in range for miles are still better than the roads on Maui, but its the drivers that can be dangerous.. If you can see through the drivers window, you will see a semi truck flipped over on the side of the road.May 14th 2009 (First day in Chicama)
This morning we woke up dazed from all of our travels yesterday, but then we looked over our shoulders beyond the balcony and saw the amazing left, then we were awake!

It was small but the potential of it is amazing. Even though the wave was only 2 foot Haw., they were lining up killer. The locals were telling us that when it is over head 5-6 foot haw. you can ride the wave for 4 miles.
We had a long day with a lot of sun and lot of surfing and SUP. We are all burnt, especially after the hotel steam room.
After we finished our first session, we ate a great lunch and then walked around the beautiful hotel, "Chicama Surf". We are so fortunate to be staying at Chicama Surf, the food is great, after riding a wave for a very long time to the point where your back leg is burning, there is a boat to take you back up to the lineup, and also we are very safe here. The whole hotel is surrounded by 12 foot walls with electric wire all around it.
Pictures from today (no surf shots yet, but they will be ready tomorrow):

Honora amping.. haha
Most important room besides the kitchen.
Chicama surf hotel work out room.
