Chicama, Peru Bound
Aloha Everyone,
It was like a dream when Starboard emailed me asking if my dad, Connor and I wanted to do a SUP/Surf photo-shoot at the longest left in the world, Chicama, Peru. I heard stories about Chicama from Clay Marzo, and Brett Maither and it was nothing but good stuff out of their mouth.
Right now I am actually on the plain having my A.D.D trip waiting to get up and surf, while Connor is snoring in my ear dreaming about it. We had two 5 hours flights, one from Maui to LA and another from LA to Miami. We got onto the plain in Miami on time then waited on the plain for 2 and half hours because there was something wrong with the computer or something. Better safe then sorry I guess.. Finally we took off and were on our way. Now we are on a plain going from Miami to Lima, which is also a 5-hour flight. Only 2 hours and 43 minutes till we get off this plain! But then we got a 6 hour stay in a hotel in Lima. After that Nicolas Parkerson and Ricardo Guglielmino pick us all up from the hotel airport and we are on our way!

Honora Kalama (Hawaii) Surfer • 25. Honora is a big wave charger (together with her husband Ekolu). She is always seen in the back of the line-up waiting for the perfect bomb.
Zane Schweitzer (Hawaii) Surfer • 15. The yung-Gun windsurfer and SUP rider Zane has already competed professionally across the globe for many years. He is a kid full of talents and loves showing the surfing lifestyle to a younger generation.
Connor Baxter (Hawaii) Surfer • 14. Is touring with Zane across to globe. Connor is not only a wave charger but also a long distance paddler. He is most often the youngest one competing, but far from the last one to finish the race!
Scott Mckercher (Australia) Surfer • 38. 1 x world champion in wave sailing, Scott is a legend. He brought wave sailing to another level through his unique cut-back style.
Anne Marie Reichman (Holland/Hawaii) Surfer • 34. Born in Holland but left home to live her dream as a professional windsurfer. Anne Marie is making history within the growing sport of SUP. She is at the moment organizing the first ever 11-city SUP race in Holland.
John Hibbard (England) Surfer • 32. UK champion in windsurfing and long distance SUP. John is a well respected surfer in UK and his passion for water sports has inspired hundreds of people to enjoying what the ocean has to offer.
When I checked out this list above, I knew we were going to have a blast!

Hey sweetheart, It must have been torture to have to sit for 2 1/2 hours on a plane. Congratulations for making it through. Nice to see you took your ukulele to keep you entertained.

Zane-Connor... This is Connor's parents friend Dan from the east coast! You guys are so fortunate to be getting this opportunity. We'll all be keeping up with you on this site, so post your comments and lots of pictures. Don't just "share the stoke" with us though.. be SUP ambassadors and share it with the Peruvian people... they'll never forget it and neither will you.

Zane, Good to see you following in your parents footsteps. Your mom was always the sweetest and your dad did the baddest forwrads ever ! period ! Kids nowadays don't even know what your dad and those guys were doing back in the day. I'm old enough to rememebr. Rip it up, be good and respect the gift your parents have passed on.

Hey Zane, hope you are having good waves. Are the waves picking up? I'm going to Chicama on monday and i'm arriving there about 10 pm more or less. See you there. PS The waves are going to be rad on wednesday!!!

hey Zane! Hope you are having fun! Your Mom and Shelby stayed with me in Manhattan Beach for a week - we had such a great time! Wish you were here with us - the beach is right here and the strand for longboard skateboarding and biking. We even went ice skating and Shelby learned to do a spin! I heard about all of the things you are doing - so exciting! I want to hear more about Stand Up for Kids. Hope to be back on Maui this fall - going to check out your photos!
